For those of you who don’t know what ‘‘ is, please see:
And from the recent Twitter cry, we’ve heard the complaints. No more mansplaining at BKB! Here’s a tongue-in-cheek guide on how not to do it, from one resident strong girl climber…
“Just giving beta in general.
We don’t care.
Unless asked specifically, please hold yourself back from offering “advice” of what you think we should do.
Unless you would like me to offer you an advice on how to better lock off to that shutthef#ckup hold, keep your opinions to yourself.
That hold is superb. I promise.
I often leave my raincoat at home, so I really don’t like to be sprayed with beta indoors and have to climb wet.
Also, please don’t say things like :
Oh, wow, you made that move look so easy! …..followed by some other nonsense of how you had to struggle SO hard to make that happen but you’re tired, hungry, hungover……..”…” insert mango (man-ego that bruises easily) excuse here.
I made that shit easy because it is easy and don’t you dare give me “easier” beta.
(Read: I tried really hard)
If you give me beta I will try really hard to climb all of your projects in your face and make you cry yourself to sleep.
I love them boys and men and men boys, but I have rage that sends me up the wall as soon as they try to “help”.
Do I look like a cat stuck in a tree? I didn’t think so.
The only time I’ll pretend to be stuck in a tree needing rescuing is when Ryan Gosling gets cloned and joins the FDNY.
Til then, let me climb and try moves on my own. K. Great. Thanks.”
