Two of QB’s own BKBeasts, Livy and Sam Molko, are proceeding to USA Climbing Youth Sport Nationals in July. We caught up with them after their Divisionals competition to ask what it means to them and how they interact in the sport of climbing.
BKB: What does going to Nationals mean to you?
Sam: Going to Nationals means that I’ve improved a lot this season!
Livy: It means that I’m one of the strongest youth climbers in the country!
BKB: What are you most excited about attending Nationals?
Sam: I’m most excited to see the climbs and how I compare against them. I really want to perform for Nationals. I owe it to myself to do the best I can.
Livy: I’m most excited to see all the super strong climbers from across the country, and my friends!
BKB: If you could climb anywhere in the world for 1 month, where would you go and why?
Sam: If I could climb anywhere in the world it would be Colorado. I love bouldering outside and I hear there are tons of great problems!
Livy: South Africa! It looks so fun there and there’s elephants!
BKB: What gets you psyched?
Sam: I get psyched by climbs that are challenging within my climbing ability, or above!
Livy: Other people climbing hard things makes me feel empowered to try and complete those climbs.
BKB: Any advice for young climbers?
Sam: Train as hard as you possibly can.
Livy: Falling is part of climbing…but still try not to fall.
BKB: Best of luck you two!
