What is a climbathon, exactly?
It’s a day of a ton of climbing. Like a marathon, except instead of running you climb until you can’t climb any more – for a good cause.
How does it work?
Click join this fundraising team. Personalize your page and set your goal. Minimum is 100 ft per 100 dollars. Anyone who is participating gets free food and drink tickets.
What else is happening that day?
We have a bake sale starting from 11:30am, featuring vegan treats and more. If you can bake join in…it’s the tastiest contribution. The climbathon starts at noon, and even if you aren’t on a team you can still climb with us at your leisure. Get a ticket here – it gets you a day pass, drink, food, and a raffle ticket. There will be a ton of prizes, including a month membership to BKB to free outdoor guiding service to gear from Evolv.
We’re also having a ‘climb adaptive” contest, where you test your climbing skills with the same restrictions as our world champion adaptive climbers. For example: bouldering using only one hand. Or test out your upper body strength by using our Easy Seat Harness…….that isn’t so easy.
What’s ACG’s biggest goal for 2015?
Our biggest goal is to create more outdoor experiences for our Adaptive climbers. We also need to replace gear, create new Adaptive techniques and training formulas for the array of disabilities we encounter in the Northeast. Overall, our mission is to create more affordable and accessible opportunities for those with disabilities by giving them the opportunity to take part in this amazing sport, just like anyone else.
Go to this page for tickets, and we hope you’ll join us on March 15th!
